For all the comforts that computers bring us, they also bring with them plenty of headaches. It’s a tradeoff right, most days our lives are unimaginable without computers, some days though they leave you wondering why you bother with them in the first place?
Across a myriad of errors that can show up on your computer screen the “this page is trying to load scripts from unauthenticated sources” is one of the more malevolent ones.
Today we will tell you how to rid yourself of this pestilence. This message is actually pretty common while you are upgrading to HTTPS via mixed content. HTTPS shields you from bad guys by blocking them from seeing your traffic.
They can only see as far as your URLS, they are prevented from looking in the content. An insecure request made via HTTP can be intercepted by 3rd parties and replace with a fouler version
Here is what you can do to prevent this error from coming up in the future
- Change All URL References to HTTPS
- Changing of All URL to use protocol less address is not considered a good practice
- Download the Script or Asset and Serve it from your Web Server
- Find a New Vendor or Source Offering HTTPS Access
The aim is to make all of your assets requested through HTTPS. This means you need to check your pages to find all relevant references to resources, whether they are third party or those on your own site are being loaded using HTTP.
So if you follow all the steps mentioned above, you are good to go. You are unlikely to see that message ever again.
